Amit Singhal is a Managing Director and Head of ORIX Corporation USA’s Asset-Based Finance business. He is responsible for originating, structuring and executing debt investments in the US middle-market. He has over 20 years of experience, and a focus on infrastructure and specialty finance sub-sectors. He joined the firm in 2021 and is based in New York.
Prior to joining ORIX USA, Mr. Singhal was at Macquarie Principal Finance, a $10bn private credit and special situations platform that invested in unitranche and junior debt, as well as structured equity. Prior to that, Mr. Singhal was at Elliott Management, where he focused on distressed debt investments and activist equity investments in large cap stocks. Before Elliott, Mr. Singhal served in Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking Division, as part of the founding team for its infrastructure private equity fund. Mr. Singhal started his career at Morgan Stanley in a complex-debt structuring role, where he worked on unique financings from distressed aircraft debt to healthcare royalty finance, commodity-hedge backed project finance deals and esoteric ABS.
He holds an MBA from The Wharton School, at the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA from Franklin & Marshall College.
